Old Business:
A short discussion was held regarding the success of the Wilson County/State Fair. There was record attendance at the fair this year and everyone was pleased with the overall success of the fair. The club was well represented at the fair -- the days were long, hot and hard but everyone persevered and, overall, things went very well.
New Business:
Announcements of upcoming events:
1. October 1st is the "Fall Celebration" in Granville. Jon, Dale, and Dedee indicated they would attend to represent the club.
2. October 15-16 is the "Wilson County Bank Oktoberfest" in Lebanon. Matt, Phil, Jon, Butch and Patricia indicated they would represent the club at this event.
3. October 17-20 is the "Tannehill Woodcarvers Retreat" at Camp McDowell (Navuoo), Al. Gene, Clark, Phil, and Rich will attend that event.
4. October 17-21 is the "Renegade Woodcarvers Roundup" -- go to the "Events" tab on this website for complete information.
5. November 11-13 is the "Gary Falin caricature carving workshop" in Leipers Fork, TN -- -- go to the "Events" tab on this website for complete information.

Rich indicated that we have members that we have not seen in the last several months and we should reach out to them to be sure they are doing OK and let them know we are still thinking about them.
Three of our members -- Gene, Linda and Jon -- carved comfort birds that Gene and Linda delivered to the Huntsville Carving Club. The Huntsville club gives a comfort bird to oncology patients and to the parents of children in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Below is a picture of the birds that the three Fiddlers Grove carvers made.
Congratulations go out to both Linda Graham and Dedee Beveridge for the ribbons they received for carvings they entered in the Wilson County Fair competition. Linda's relief carving received a blue ribbon and was sent on to the regional FCE competition where she received another blue ribbon. Her carving has now moved on to the state competition. See picture below of Linda's carving. Dedee received ribbons for several of her entries -- receiving blue, red, and white ribbons for several of her entries. See pictures of Dedee's carvings below.

Show & Tell
Four members had carvings to show at the meeting. Butch had three items to display. First, he had a woodburning, next was a caricature bear and lastly were a couple of wood spirits.
Jon had three Christmas ornaments he carved -- two smores and a poinsetta flower.
Gene displayed three animal carvings. First were an elk and fox bust/head and lastly was a fully-body elk. Gene indicated that he is still working on a "habitat" mounting for this elk.
Lastly, Rich had a skull bottle topper for Halloween.
